Ted Brunetti

Producer | Director | Acting Coach | Actor

Ted has a career that spans virtually every medium of performance, from Broadway to TV and film, musical to drama, cartoon voicing to creating roles in new works. He’s also a successful and sought-after director, and an award-winning teacher and coach – and is a prolific creator and producer of content for stage and screen.

Ted originated the role of “Frankie Coffee Cake” in the Broadway Production of A BRONX TALE (co-directed by Robert De Niro and Jerry Zaks, book by Chazz Palminteri, music by Alan Menken, choreography by Sergio Trujillo, produced by Tribeca Productions, Dodger Theatricals & Tommy Mattola).


Ted was Uta Hagen's protégé for more than 20 years and is honored to be quoted in the forward of her newly released New Edition of RESPECT FOR ACTING. He was personally selected by Hagen to teach at H.B. Studios, and appear with her in solo performances in the first Herbert Berghoff Tribute: Ted in A REPORT TO THE ACADEMY/ Uta in CHARLOTTE.


He’s an Invited Guest Member of the renowned ACTORS’ STUDIO (LA).


Ted is the creator and executive producer of a half-hour comedy pilot for FOX Broadcasting Network, and Warner Brothers Discovery. He also has several other projects currently in development.


Ted serves as Faculty, Guest Faculty, Coach & Director at premiere Directing and Acting Programs and Institutions across the U.S., and an ongoing guest artist for Australia’s renowned Actors Center of Australia (patron: Hugh Jackman).

Ted has coached many other renowned actors, athletes, and musicians. He works with the major networks, studios, casting directors, agents, and managers, preparing and taping clients for auditions, as well as coaching on-set, both on-location and virtually. He has coached many actors for leading roles in current television, film, theatre, and streaming projects.


Acting
As an actor, Ted has worked on projects with: Uta Hagen, Jerry Zaks, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Whoopi Goldberg, Dan Petrie Sr., Donald Petrie, Rob Marshall, Diane Paulus, Mark Brokaw, Nicholas Martin, Graciela Daniele, Stephen Sondheim, Flaherty & Ahrens, Pat Birch, Paul Gemignani, Keith Lockhart, and many others. He’s acted in
productions on Broadway, Off-Broadway’s Playwrights Horizons, and at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, B.A.M., The O’Neil Center, The Ohio Theatre in NYC, Hartford Stage, The Pittsburgh Public, H.B. Playwright’s Theatre, Bucks County, Falmouth, & Pocono Playhouses, Dorsett Theatre Festival, Westbank Theater Center, Riverwest Theater, and more.

Ted was in the original production of FALSETTOS directed by Graciela Danielle, sharing the role of Marvin. He was a cover in the original production of Stephen Sondheim’s ASSASSINS, originated the role of Pasqual in AVENUE X at Playwright’s Horizons, and played the title role in PIPPIN five times. Ted’s first dramatic feature film role was in Al Pacino’s TWO BITS. His first comedy role was in THE ASSOCIATE with Whoopi Goldberg and Diane Wiest. His first leading role was as Joey Connor in CROSSINGS. He performed in the Oscar- and Golden Globe-Nominated animated feature ANASTASIA and its prequel BARTOK THE MAGNIFICENT.  
 

Education and Training
Ted holds a BFA from The University of North Carolina School of the Arts. In addition to Uta Hagen, Ted also studied with: Mike Nichols; Austin Pendleton; Horton Foote; Stiller & Meara; Francis Sternhagen; Elizabeth Wilson; and F. Murray Abraham.


Awards and Honors
Ted is a recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Achievement in the Arts Award. He was finalist in three Backstage Magazine Readers Choice Awards in 2014 and 2016, including: Best L.A. Acting School/Coaches, Best L.A. Audition Technique Teacher, Best L.A. On-Camera Teachers, as well as runner up Favorite L.A. Acting
Coach &  L.A. Favorite Teacher 2008 & 2010.

Personal
Ted hails from Pittsburgh, PA – and still has family there. He’s one of 10 children raised by parents who had “show biz” in their blood. He’s the brother of renowned composer, pianist, and vocal coach David Brunetti (author ACTING SONGS), and his eldest sister Tedi Brunetti an accomplished drummer, singer/songwriter.


He currently lives in Los Angeles and Manhattan, working extensively in both cities as well as Atlanta, Ga.
